The record knives
World’s heaviest knife
In 2001 Paolo Pusceddu made an arburesa, the traditional sardinian jackknife with a typical ‘’potbellied’’ blade, in stainless steel and with a curved Padauk wood handle, weighing a whopping 295 kg, measuring 4,85 m in length and boasting a 2,25 cm thick blade.
This knife rightfully earned him the Guinness world record for world’s heaviest knife.
World’s largest knife
1986 was the year of Paolo Pusceddu’s first record attempt, making the world’s largest knife. A huge jackknife weighing 80kg and 3.35 m long with a blade 1.25 cm thick, thus setting a record that stood up until the year 2000. This knife is still on display in the first room of the museum.
